US Presidential Candidate RFK Jr. Reveals Bitcoin Makes Up Bulk of His Wealth
US independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.(RFK Jr.) revealed at the BTC 2024 conference in Nashville that most of his assets are held in Bitcoin.
Reaffirming his support for the crypto community, he said, “I am a huge supporter of Bitcoin. I was here a year ago at the other BTC conference… With most of my wealth in Bitcoin. I am fully committed.”
RFK Jr. Aims to Establish Bitcoin-Gold Reserve Parity in US Treasury if Elected
In an interview hosted by YouTuber Scott Melker, RFK Jr. sat with the CEO and founder of Custodia Bank, Caitlin Long, and mentioned that if he is elected as the next US president, he would match the country’s BTC reserve to its gold reserve.
With about 8,134 tons of gold reserves, the American government is the world’s premier gold custodian. Realizing RFK Jr.’s vision would position the US as the world’s largest Bitcoin custodian.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has consistently maintained a bullish outlook on Bitcoin’s potential. In May 2023, while he was still under the Democratic party, he became the first US presidential candidate to accept campaign donations in Bitcoin.
Some months later, Kennedy pledged at the Heal-the-Divide PAC event on July 19 that if elected as the country’s president, he would back the US dollar with Bitcoin.
However, RFK Jr.’s commitment to Bitcoin extends beyond his wealth. Apart from having a majority of his wealth in Bitcoin, as he revealed recently, the US presidential candidate also passed down the legacy to his children.
After facing backlash for endorsing Bitcoin without a personal investment, he decided to ‘put his money where his mouth is.’ In a July 26 Twitter Space, he revealed that he bought two BTC for each of his seven children.
Crypto Gains Traction in US Politics
Like RFK Jr., Donald Trump, another US presidential candidate, also has a measure of his wealth in crypto. For instance, a glance at Trump’s wallet showed he holds 464 ETH.
Recently, Jesse Powell, the co-founder of Kraken crypto exchange, donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign after the latter disclosed that he would be accepting crypto donations in his presidential campaign.
