UK School Lomond Pioneer Accepting Bitcoin As Fees Payment
Lomond School in Scotland will accept Bitcoin for tuition using Musqet and CoinCorner, converting it to pounds initially.

Lomond School, a co-educational boarding school in Helensburgh, Scotland, is the first institution in the United Kingdom to accept Bitcoin as a form of tuition fee payment.
This groundbreaking move, detailed in a report on the Independent School Management site, positions the school at the forefront of innovation within the educational sector.
Lomond School Accepts Bitcoin as Payment
Lomond School is making it easier to use Bitcoin by working with Musqet, a Bitcoin payment company, and CoinCorner, a virtual asset service that follows financial rules. This team-up ensures that Bitcoin payments are safe and legal, showing that the school wants to handle money responsibly.
At first, the school plans to convert all Bitcoin payments into British pounds to avoid problems with changing money values. But later, if more people accept Bitcoin and the rules about cryptocurrency in the UK become clearer, Lomond School hopes to keep some as a reserve.
Principal Claire Chisholm announced this new idea at Cheatcode, a significant Bitcoin event in the country. She said that Lomond School has always been innovative. She mentioned that it was the first boarding school in Scotland to welcome both boys and girls and now uses the International Baccalaureate program.
“For generations, this school has nurtured inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and open-minded risk-takers. It’s really no surprise then that the inventor of the television, John Logie Baird, is a former pupil,” said Chisholm.
The school will start accepting Bitcoin payments in the fall of 2025, using the two approved Bitcoin providers. This choice was made because international education agents and families asked for other ways to pay, especially those that avoid international money exchange difficulties.
Bitcoin (BTC) Price Actions
Bitcoin price is approximately $82,117, reflecting a 0.42% increase in the past 24 hours. While the cryptocurrency has experienced a slight decrease of 0.7% over the past week, it reached a new all-time high of $108,786 at the beginning of the year, demonstrating its inherent volatility and potential for significant appreciation.
Lomond School anticipates that introducing Bitcoin as a payment option will attract both local and international families who are forward-thinking and appreciate cryptocurrency’s convenience and security. The school hopes this innovative approach will appeal to families seeking a modern and adaptable educational environment.
Earlier in the year, India’s Birla Institute of Management Technology launched BIMCOIN, a cryptocurrency designed for on-campus transactions between students, vendors, and administrators.
