Swiss Media Group confirmed #Ransomware Attack On Press Group

Today, the Blick and Tamedia press groups have reportedly affirmed it has also been hit by a ransomware attack by some cybercriminals group in Switzerland.

Subscribers’ Data from Blick and SonntagsBlick newspapers network systems in cantons Aargau, Solothurn, and Basel Country were impacted by the recent ransomware attack, Blick declared on Thursday night.

Furthermore, At Tamedia, delivery addresses from the same cantons have pointed out the exterior link that has been published on the dark web. This itself is a part of the internet hosted within an encrypted web and attainable only through specialized anonymity-providing tools.

Recurrent Ransomware Attacks On Swiss Group

Previously, the IT systems of the Swiss newspaper group Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) were attacked on March 24 by a ransomware group that’s called Play, The hackers had reportedly demanded a ransom to dismiss the thought of releasing sensitive staff data on the dark web.

Subsequently, On Wednesday the newspaper group CH Media confirmed that the firm’s data stolen during the recent ransomware attack had been seen posted on the dark web, Swiss newspaper says hackers threaten data release ‘unless the ransom was paid’.

Agreably, CH Media has been impacted by the attack because it acquire IT services from the NZZ. Another firm that belongs to CH Media is responsible for the postal delivery of the Blick newspapers. The Tamedia client data reportedly consists of delivery addresses from the same cantons as Blick.

Swiss Medias Facing CyberAttack Spree

Following the hack, the three regional titles Aargauer Zeitung, Luzerner Zeitung, and St-Galler Tagblatt had temporarily given up the various sub-regional sections of their newspapers. The NZZ also appeared in an undersized form on certain days. Since then, the newspapers have resumed their normal publication.

Notably, No NZZ data has been publicized to date, the firm reaffirms to Swiss public radio, SRF, on Wednesday. Cyber threat actors have hacked several Swiss private and public targets in the past few years, with ransomware attacks on the rise.

These attacks include defense contractor RUAG, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and Swiss municipalities.
