Pakistan PM House Bugged? Leaked Audio Leaves Sharif Family Red-Faced

Loading

Three audio clips allegedly featuring leaders of Pakistan’s government emerged online, one of the clips reportedly comprising a discussion among many senior authorities ruling Pakistan in the high-security PM House.

The leak contained statements from interim minister Rana Sanullah, defense minister Khawaja Asif, law minister Azam Tarar and minister for economic affairs Ayaz Sadiq. These officials were discussing the fate of finance minister Miftah Ismail and the resignations of Pakistani Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmakers from the National Assembly.

The second audio clip was of a discussion between PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about finance minister Ismail.

Leaked Conversations For Sale

The clips bear the name of the threat actor ID who set it up for sale. The ID is a faction of Indian hackers who have been attacking Pakistani websites since 2007.

Concurrently, former PM Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf criticized the government over the leaks, but the threat actor claimed to have clips against Khan and Pakistan’s army chief too.

In the lengthiest clip, Maryam Nawaz, one of the most important figures in government, expressed detest for Ismail. She said the minister doesn’t take responsibility and says weird things on TV which people mock him for. She added that he is clueless and doesn’t know what he is doing.

Moreover, Maryam wishes for the return of PML-N stalwart Ishaq Dar, who was listed to come back next week to take the responsibility for the finance ministry.

Leaked Audio Magnifies Governmental Affairs

Fawad Chaudhry, retired information minister of Imran Khan’s PTI,  claimed that the ruling party is more eager to insuring family affairs. He also condemned the country’s cybersecurity as he noted that the hackers put the audio on sale on the dark web.

Arguably stressed, this is the negligence of our intelligence agencies, particularly the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Aside from political problems, significant conversations on security and foreign problems are now in everyone’s hands, he asserted

The former human rights minister in the PTI government said one of the apparent audios on display was the groundwork for Dar’s return. She also questioned how the hackers placed the recording devices and who gave the order to execute such plans.
