‘NoName’ Russian Hacktivists Target Ukrainian Financial Sector
NoName, a hacktivist collective with ties to Russia, recently launches a campaign against the conflict-ravaged country that persistently target the banking industry in Ukraine.
The group said on its private Telegram channel on June 27 that they will ” begin current mission with an attack on Ukraine’s financial sector. The gang’s chosen DDoS attack strategy occurs nearly every day since the threat actors directive few days ago to target major Ukrainian banks.
Four of the biggest commercial institutions in the country, including First Ukrainian International Bank (PUMB), State Savings Bank of Ukraine (Oshchadbank), Credit Agricole Bank, and Universal Bank, fall under the targets.
The pro-Russian hacker collective, formally known as NoName057(16) in the security community, claims the goal of its most recent assault was to interfere with Ukraine’s online banking internet infrastructure.

Aside from claiming to have fully taken down multiple bank websites, the gang also focuses on authorization services, login portals, customer support systems, and loan processing services.
A recent declaration by Ukrainian officials to become the “first country in the world to completely abolish cash. The group reveals in a Telegram message, which serves as inspiration for the hacking attempt.
The government aims to outlaw cash payments, which would make it possible to eradicate at least 95% of corruption, according to Rostyslav Shurma, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
“However, unlike Shurma, we are certain that Ukraine will never give up its Western masters’ money.” “However, they are not infinite…” it claims.
NoName deviates from the script
On June 28th, the gang found a post by a fellow hacktivist organization Anonymous Sudan, which is relentlessly attacking Sweden since the burning of a Quran at a rally in Stockholm this past January.
NoName swiftly alters gears and chose to assault two Swedish targets, the website of the Swedish railway carrier SJ AB and the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, Finansinspektionen (FI), in an evident display of support against Anonymous Sudan.
NoName trace the Swedish attacks to the more recent and second Quran burning by demonstrators in Stockholm on the same day.
