LockBit Hackers Claim it has Israeli Iron Dome Data. Threaten to Sell Them

Iron Dome faces a new adversary from the cyberspace as Lockbit claims it has possession of critical data regarding it.

The group announced via their telegram channel that they have access to the X-Y coordinate maps, encryption files, functional maps and operational mechanisms of the Iron Dome

They failed to state if they would offer Israel to buy this data. Nonetheless, the announcement declared that the information is for sale along with more than 27,000GB of other firms’ info.

While the Israeli defense forces failed to respond to these claims, it is worth noting that there is no other evidence to verify the hack happened.

Nonetheless, the group claimed the breach was one of their largest operations. They also challenged the resolve of other nations to show their solidarity for Gaza by buying this info and offering to Hamas or Hezbollah to destroy these sites.

The Israeli Iron Dome is an air defense system and is one of the most effective per statistics. Its involvement has played a central role in putting in place strong measures that save civilians from the dangers of the barrage of missiles several groups launched into the nation.

Due to the role this defense system plays, several bands/nations are searching for ways to either replicate or destroy the existing infrastructure.

This type of information is so sensitive that its exploitation can erode strategic defence capabilities, worsen diplomatic effects, and set an escalating pattern of existing violent instances.

Iron Dome is not Perfect

However, the system is not perfect. In November, Iron Dome deployed its interceptors against civilian targets. Israel’s primary air defence system experienced a malfunction amidst a barrage of missiles launched from Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Numerous reports indicate that among the key infrastructures struck by the system’s rockets was a hospital located in the nation’s capital, Tel Aviv, with reports of casualties. Additionally, there are claims that another defensive missile hit a residential area in Rishon Lezion, approximately 7 km from the capital.
