It was developed by Microsoft and was included in the Windows Operating System in which it was a part of an add-on package for Windows 95.

Why it was Terminated

There have been various concerns about security and software compatibility that is part of what has made Microsoft end its operations. The latest version of Internet Explorer (IE) 11 was created in november 2013.

The application hasn’t received an update since it was released and this has also led to its closure. Microsoft said that it will no longer be supporting the browser. The application is to be disabled June 15th for certain versions of Windows 10 and will generally no longer be part of the Windows Operating System’s future updates.

In August 2021, Microsoft 365 ended their support for Internet Explorer 11 because of its faultiness and flaws. Since the decision, the security of the platform can no longer be guaranteed. Although almost half of Windows 10 users are still relying on the search engine, its outdated features could render it unsecure for users.

Web browser updates help protect users against different kinds of attacks like viruses, ransomware and phishing attacks. Microsoft’s new recommended browser, Microsoft Edge, is now the main browser for the Windows Operating System.
