Elon musk’s Starlink approved in third world countries as he posted on twitter that his own Starlink satellite internet company has been approved in Nigeria, Mozambique and Philippines , This tweet was posted on special day as the world marks children’s day on 27th of May 2022.  This achievement came through the efforts made by Elon musk Space X company to provide internet services to area that don’t have a good internet coverage i.e. Rural areas , and it’s cheap cost compared to others internet service provider.

Brief History of Starlink

SpaceX, an aircraft manufacturing and space transportation corporation, has a six-year-old division called Starlink. It has spent three years sending over 1,000 satellites into orbit, and the US Federal Communications Commission just awarded it $885.5 million in grant monies. Preorders/sign-ups are already available, and Elon Musk said in February 2021 that Starlink currently had over 10,000 clients.

Starlink’s satellites are supposed to be able to connect you to the internet. “High-speed broadband internet to regions where access has been spotty or altogether absent,” Starlink says. It currently only works in homes and isn’t mobile, but that will change soon. There are other satellite internet service providers, such as HughesNet or Viasat, but Starlink is more well-known due to its affiliation with the United Nations.

 How many  Starlink satellite have been deployed in space

The first prototype Starlink satellites were launched into orbit in 2018. Since then, more than 20 satellites have been successfully launched, bringing the total number of satellites launched to approximately 1,300 by February 2021. The Falcon 9 orbital rocket was used by SpaceX to send some of the satellites into orbit.

Starlink intends to eventually cover the entire world with satellites capable of beaming a useable, high-speed Wi-Fi connection. To reach that goal, Starlink will most likely need at least 10,000 satellites in orbit. SpaceX has stated that it wants as many as 30,000 satellites in the constellation, and Musk has stated that the service will be available worldwide in 2022 if several more satellite launches are successful.

How fast is Starlink

Although the speed of Starlink varies based on your location, Ookla’s testing reveals that it is consistently quicker than competing satellite internet services. Since February 2022, Starlink has offered a Premium tier with download speeds ranging from 150 to 500 Mbps and latency ranging from 20 to 40 milliseconds. The upload speed is also increased to 40Mbps. It does, however, come at a hefty price tag.

Can Starlink be used on transit and in poor weather conditions

we haven’t had the opportunity to test Starlink, however it appears that weather is a concern. Starlink claims that the receiver can melt snow that falls on it, although the company advises that it be installed in a location where snow and other impediments will not limit the field of view. “Heavy rain or wind can also impact your satellite internet connection, potentially resulting in slower speeds or a rare outage,”

In April 2021, Musk said on Twitter that the service is ready to go “completely mobile.” Keep in mind that Starlink customers cannot currently migrate their existing gear from one location to another. You must input your location information at checkout as a beta member and then stay put with the equipment. Although Starlink’s terminals are too large for Tesla automobiles, Musk claims that they might be used in planes, RVs, trucks, and ships.

Starlink “should be totally transportable later this year,” according to the SpaceX CEO, “so you can move it anyplace or put it on an RV or truck in motion.” However, he stated that the corporation still requires a couple more “satellite launches and some crucial software modifications” to attain “full” coverage.

Other places where Starlink is available

Starlink’s service is “particularly suited for areas of the globe where connectivity has traditionally been a struggle,” according to SpaceX. It is currently only available in a few places of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries, with coverage centered between 45 and 53 degrees north latitude.

As more satellites are added to the Starlink constellation, coverage will expand.

Updated on May 12th, 2022: SpaceX has announced that it is now available in 32 countries around the world. The space business claims to be able to ship “immediately.”
