Cyber Attack or Not: Italy Postal Services Suffers a Massive Downtime

Italian Postal Postal Services experienced the effect of a cyber attack yesterday. It remains a mystery who was behind the offensive and several claims have been made.

The Postal Services Alleged It Wasn’t Killnet

A note from the company claimed that the downtime experienced by the firm was not the effect of a cyber attack. They further stated  that the malfunction experienced by customers and technical problems witnessed by the company was as a result of the system update.

Nonetheless, the the company’s services were unavailable for more than four hours. This was a very devastating and frustrating period for most of the customers who had been reassured of the effectiveness of the company and solved technical problems. This left many confused and frustrated with the sudden malfunction they experienced.

After four long terrible hours of inefficiencies throughout Italy, the company then attested to solving the problem. To apologize for the downtime notes, assuring its customers again that it was not a hacker attack but that the company was facing some technical problems which occurred due to an update on the systems.

However, the statement made by the internal sources in the company was debunked as the level of inefficiencies and malfunctions of the postal services reached its peak at 7am this morning.

Why Such Claims

Recall that sometime this month, Killnet promised to retaliate after a failed attempt at disrupting the Eurovision contest. The attack is also speculated to be a Russian retaliation to the European Union’s intervention in the Ukrainian war, as the EU is set to place an embargo on Russian oil.

Italy is seen a forerunner to the cause as the Pope of that Catholic Church openly condemned the Russian invasion, along with other top Italian government officials. This could be a warning to the Italian Government to discourage and deter them from supporting or funding Ukraine.
