Blue Origin said the launch window opened on Monday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. CDT. The mission lasted for roughly 11 minutes and ascended over 60 miles above the planet, surpassing the Kármán line, the threshold between Earth’s atmosphere and the cosmos at 62 miles above sea level.
A remarkable achievement
As stated by the organization, the Blue Origin mission signifies the first entirely female space voyage since 1963, following the solo mission of Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova in that year. Since then, there have been no further all-female space missions, although women have made many noteworthy contributions.
