Apple unveiled new products on March 8. iPhone SE 3, iPad Air 5, and the new MacBook Pro were among the new projects that were announced during the event. Of all these gadgets, the iPhone SE 3 is the main focus as it is expected to be on the international starting on the 18th of this month.
There has been several speculations about what the new Apple phone will offer. It is of more interest as the flagship offers a more affordable option than the other series. In this article we will review the previous SE series and compare it to the expected version.
iPhone SE (2020)
Released in April 24 2020, the SE 2 was considered the cheapest iPhone at the time. Made available worldwide, it was sold for $399 per unit. The phone came in different models which were distinguished by the storage space.
The previously stated price was for the 64GB ROM model. While the 128GB and 256GB were sold for $449 and $549 respectively. In the US, Apple offered the new SE (2020) at $16.62/month through its financing plan and an option to swap an old phone for the latest.
The device promised a very familiar environment which is fulfilled by mimicking the iPhone 8 display. Not only was the screen display almost the same, the SE felt like the 8 both in looks and touch.
Compared to the iPhone 8, the SE 2020 offered little to no added features. Both phones have the same screen dimensions (5.45 x 2.65 x 0.29 in) and were built the same (Glass front, glass back, aluminum frame). Still on the display, both devices have the same feature (Retina IPS LCD, 625 nits), same screen size (4.7 inches) and the same protection.
Regarding the system, the SE 2020 is much better as it runs on the A13 Bionic chipset. This means that it offered a faster and smoother experience than the latter. Released in 2020, the device was said to bridge the gap between the iPhone 11 and the 8 model while maintaining minimal cost.
The battery life was almost the same as the 11. However, there is little difference in the output of both devices with the 11 model performing better. The SE 2 has a 12 MP main camera that features Quad-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, and panorama.
For selfie, a 7 MP with HDR is present. In simple terms, the phone is good for photos and offers a high range of video recording options. With a brief overview of the 2020 model, what will the 2022 SE model offer?
