Anonymous recently called out the Iranian government on Twitter, issuing new threats against their infrastructure. It stated in its threat message that they have begun operations against the Iranian government.
Due to the recent events in Iran, the Anonymous group made the Iranian government their primary target after Russia. The group in a message pledged support to Iranian protesters to fight their oppressors. The message was a warning issued to the Iranian dictator, Ebrahim Raisi.
The group started its cyberattack operations against the Iranian government and launched a barrage of attacks on key infrastructures
Anonymous Allegedly Disrupt Central Bank Website
Last week, the group claimed responsibility for the disruption of the website of the Central Bank of Iran. A spokesperson for the apex bank said the hacktivists launched a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on its website.
The cyberattack was in retaliation to the Iranian morality police killing an Iranian woman, Mahsa Amini. The internet blackout in Iran caught the attention of Anonymous. They believed the move was a plot to quell the protest.
The U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, showed solidarity for them and stated the United States’ commitment to helping the Iranian people. He also praised the protesters for demanding rights.
Social media networks such as Whatsapp are also restricted to Iranians in this period. However, Anonymous made a tweet promoting the Tor browser. The hacker group has publicly informed Iranians to use the Tor browser to bypass internet censorship and gain access to social media.
On Friday, Anonymous claimed the cyberattack on Iran’s state television. The hacker group launched cyberattacks that crippled its website servers. As per the tweets, the group also currently controls over 1000 cameras in Iran.
Furthermore, Anonymous also claimed a cyberattack on the Iranian Ministry of Cooperation and Social Welfare. The most recent cyberattacks from Anonymous were launched yesterday on the Iranian Assembly and the Iranian Ministry of Economy and Finance. Anonymous has leaked the Iranian Assembly data to support the dictator, Ebrahim Raisi.
In a message, they said, “Our support for the Iranian protests will continue. As you all know, the government is trying everything to stop you, don’t hand over. Don’t leave the streets, Don’t stop the revolution.
The Iranian parliament supports the dictator when it should be the people, so we are releasing their personal information. Call them and ask why they support the dictator.”
