This has caused a huge buzz in the crypto community.
Just a few hours after the President, Faustin-Archange Touadéra declared the launch of the Central African Republic’s meme coin, $CAR. An anonymous crypto trader has cashed out big time leaving the crypto community in buzz.
The trader speedily utilized the opportunity, investing $5000 which is equal to 25SOL, to buy 46.57M CAR and get a massive return of $12 million, which implies that he made a 2,450% return in under three hours.
The trader sold 22.65 million tokens for 8,395 SOL( $1.67 million), holding the rest 23.92M in hopes of further gains and returns. At the time of sale, these Solana meme coins were worth $10.5M, bringing the total to $12M.
World Leaders Pro-Crypto Adoption Trend
World leaders are increasingly embracing the crypto industry, with Donald Trump launching his own meme coin, $TRUMP, which sparked a wave of interest and saw its value surge to over $14.5 billion before slumping.
Following suit, the Central African Republican President, Faustin-Archange Touadera, launched the $CAR meme coin on February 10, 2025, which he said is aimed at promoting national unity and development.
Despite this huge return from the crypto trader in just a few hours of investing, there are still a lot of controversies surrounding the meme coin, $CAR token launch. There are still some mixed reactions to the coin being a potential scam.
Is $CAR a Scam?
Some believe that it is a scam because its launch was sudden, and the Central African Republican government gave no prior hints. A lot of frauds have happened in a similar way, whereby, fraudsters got hold of an influential personality’s X account and promoted or claimed the new launch. The most recent example is the Breaking Bad Star.
Another huge issue raising concern about $CAR was the suspension of the token’s official X account, this raised an issue of suspicion of hacking. Though the President acknowledged the X account suspension news, the events were still too difficult to overlook.
